Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. A professional opportunity is available for a Sign Language Interpreter specializing in telehealth services within an educational setting. This 1099 contract position is based in Richmond, KY, providing essential communication support to students and staff requiring American Sign Language interpretation through virtual platforms.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering accurate and effective sign language interpretation for remote learning and telehealth sessions. Facilitating communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and educators or healthcare providers. Ensuring confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions. Collaborating with teachers and healthcare professionals to support the needs of individuals requiring interpretation services. Adhering to telehealth protocols and best practices for virtual communication.
Qualifications and desired experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language and experience interpreting in educational or telehealth environments. Strong understanding of telecommunication equipment and remote interpreting software. Ability to interpret complex educational and medical terminology accurately. Excellent communication skills and cultural sensitivity. Prior experience in schools or healthcare settings preferred. Must operate as a 1099 contractor.
