Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter specializing in Telehealth to support communication within an educational setting. This contract position is located in Lake Providence, LA, and focuses on facilitating effective interactions between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and educators or healthcare professionals through remote platforms.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing accurate and clear sign language interpretation during telehealth sessions for students requiring communication assistance Collaborating with school personnel and healthcare providers to ensure smooth and effective communication Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interpreting assignments Adhering to established ethical standards and best practices for deaf communication access Desired qualifications and experience: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and demonstrated experience interpreting via telehealth Knowledge of educational and healthcare terminology relevant to school-based telehealth services Ability to work independently and manage remote interpreting sessions efficiently Strong communication skills and cultural competency within the deaf and hard-of-hearing community Previous experience in a school or healthcare setting is preferred
