Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A skilled Sign Language Interpreter is required to facilitate clear and effective communication in an educational environment through telehealth services. This contract role offers the opportunity to apply interpreting expertise within a school setting, supporting students and staff by bridging communication gaps with proficient use of American Sign Language (ASL).
Location:
Lakeville, MN Key Responsibilities:
Provide accurate and professional sign language interpretation during telehealth sessions within the school. Translate spoken language to ASL and vice versa, ensuring full comprehension for deaf or hard-of-hearing students. Collaborate with educators, therapists, and healthcare professionals to deliver seamless communication support. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards while interpreting sensitive information. Adapt interpretation methods to meet individual student needs and preferences.
Qualifications and Experience:
Certified Sign Language Interpreter with demonstrated proficiency in ASL. Experience interpreting in educational or telehealth settings preferred. Strong understanding of deaf culture and communication nuances. Ability to work independently under a 1099 contract arrangement. Excellent communication skills and reliability in managing scheduled telehealth appointments. Comfortable navigating telehealth platforms and technology.
