Starting at $40/hour Position Overview Birch Agency is seeking a qualified Virtual Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to provide remote interpreting support for a student during a temporary coverage period in September . The current interpreter will be unavailable during the following dates: September 4 19 September 24 28 The primary need for interpretation is during the student's first three class periods, when interpreter support is most important. Position Details Fully virtual/remote interpreting opportunity Temporary coverage position Primary schedule: Monday Friday Primary hours: 8: 30 AM 11: 10 AM Approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes per day Support primarily needed during the student's first three periods Elective courses later in the day are largely independent and generally require less interpreter support Starting pay of $40/hour Key Responsibilities Provide real-time ASL interpretation through a virtual platform. Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and classmates. Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, assignments, and educational content. Support the student's full participation in classroom activities. Adapt interpreting approaches to meet the student's communication needs. Maintain confidentiality and follow professional interpreting standards. Communicate with school staff regarding any interpreting-related needs or concerns. Provide consistent communication access throughout the scheduled instructional periods. Qualifications Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) required. EIPA score of 3.5 or higher required based on applicable district requirements. Educational interpreting experience preferred. Appropriate interpreting credential or certification preferred. Comfortable providing interpretation through a virtual platform. Strong communication, professionalism, and reliability. Ability to commit to the scheduled coverage dates and morning hours.
