Qualifications & Skills:

Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in a school or youth-centered environment Ability to interpret both one-on-one and group settings accurately and impartially Familiarity with IEP processes and educational terminology a plus Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with teachers, staff, and families Valid national or state interpreting certification is preferred, or must meet local educational agency requirements

Responsibilities:

Interpret classroom instruction, meetings, conferences, and extracurricular activities to support students educational access Work closely with teachers and educational staff to ensure understanding of lesson content and school communications Maintain confidentiality regarding assigned student(s) and all educational matters as required by law and school policy Assist with translating materials and supporting both receptive and expressive ASL needs Foster a positive, supportive atmosphere that encourages student participation and learning Complete relevant documentation and participate in meetings regarding student progress This contract role provides the opportunity to collaborate with passionate educators, utilize your interpreting talents daily, and play a key part in creating an inclusive educational community.
