Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Step into a meaningful contract opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students across campus settings near Charleston, SC. This role begins August 11, 2026, and continues through May 27, 2027, offering full-time hours, Monday through Friday, aligned with the academic year. You'll play a key role in helping students access their education by facilitating clear communication, enhancing engagement, and fostering inclusion for those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Responsibilities:
Provide interpretation services in educational environments for K-12 students. Support classroom activities, school events, and individual sessions as assigned. Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold professional ethics at all times. Adapt communication methods to suit students' age and learning needs. Collaborate closely with general and special education staff to ensure consistent language access. Participate in team meetings, IEP conferences, and parent communications, as required. Accurately translate spoken and written content into American Sign Language (ASL).
Qualifications:
Valid EIPA score of 3.5 or higher and passing written assessment required. Demonstrated proficiency in ASL interpretation in educational settings. Flexibility to support multiple schools with assignments to be determined. Experience working in schools preferred (all experience levels considered).
