Job Description

Seabright School and Therapy Staffing seeks a School Sign Language Interpreter to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students in partner school districts. In this role, you will provide accurate, age-appropriate ASL interpretation in classrooms, small groups, and school events, ensuring full access to instruction and school activities. You will collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and school teams, contribute to IEP planning, and uphold professional and ethical interpreting standards. Responsibilities Provide in-person American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for students in classroom, small group, and one-to-one settings Accurately interpret spoken language to sign and sign to spoken English during instruction, activities, and school events Adapt communication to students' age, language level, and IEP accommodations to support access to curriculum Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and school teams to plan for student communication needs Maintain professional, ethical interpreting standards and student confidentiality in school environments Document services as required by the district and participate in IEP or team meetings as needed Support a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes student independence and communication skills Required Skills American Sign Language (ASL) fluency Educational interpreting K-12 classroom support Receptive and expressive interpreting Note-taking for students Understanding of IEPs and accommodations Professional interpreting ethics and standards Confidentiality and FERPA compliance Collaboration with multidisciplinary school teams Time management and scheduling in school settings
