Job Description

Step into a meaningful role supporting students by providing vital communication access as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic middle school environment. This contract opportunity extends through May 27th, 2027 and offers the chance to work closely with two middle schoolers in a multi-categorical classroom, ensuring equal participation and promoting student success. You'll facilitate communication during all shared classes, delivering sign language interpretation directly and effectively to both students, and follow one student for a separate class block. While one student is on the autism spectrum and may demonstrate behavioral needs, a dedicated team member manages behavioral support, so your focus remains solely on interpreting. If you have or desire CPI or behavioral support training, additional district resources and training can be made available.
Qualifications:
EIPA score of 3.5 or higher, in accordance with South Carolina's state requirements High school diploma or equivalent (required) Successful completion of the written EIPA exam Ability to pass a background check and sign the SLI Code of Ethics during onboarding
Preferred Experience:
Prior work interpreting for school-aged students in an educational setting Experience supporting students with special needs or autism spectrum disorders is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
