Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a vital role supporting middle school students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a welcoming educational environment. This contract-based position runs through May 27, 2027, and offers an opportunity to make a real difference for students who rely on your unique skillset to access their education. In this position, you'll assist two middle schoolers within a multi-categorical classroom, facilitating communication since they sit close together. While one of the students may display behavioral challenges due to being on the spectrum, the responsibility for behavioral management remains with another staff member; your focus will be solely on interpreting. If you'd like additional support, optional training (like CPI or behavioral strategies) can be provided at your request. The students share most classes, and for one period daily, you'll provide interpretation for the student with a behavioral plan in a different setting.
Qualifications:
EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (as per the latest state requirements) High school diploma or equivalent Successful completion of the EIPA written test Ability to pass a background check and willingness to sign the SLI Code of Ethics (during onboarding) Comfort and experience in a classroom setting, especially with students who may be on the spectrum, is an asset
