Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Sign Language Interpreter needed for a full-time contract position in a school setting from August 6, 2026, to May 26, 2027. This opportunity is located in Lexington, SC, with onsite work required; virtual work may be considered closer to the start of the school year. The role involves supporting students with hearing impairments through effective communication and interpretation.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide accurate and clear sign language interpretation to students during the school day. Facilitate communication between hearing-impaired students, teachers, and staff. Collaborate with educational teams to support student inclusion and accessibility. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions. Participate in meetings and training as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting skills. Achieved a minimum score of 3.5 on the EIPA written portion. Prior experience in educational settings preferred. Ability to work full-time hours (37.5 hours per week) with a flexible schedule. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
