Requirements :
This is an in-person, on-site position, at the Multi-Cultural Center, and surrounding area. Applicants must reside in the Sioux Falls, SD metropolitan area to support interpretation assignments and community needs.EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide professional in-person interpretation (verbal and/or written) across the Sioux Falls area Provide translation services with written documents across the Sioux Falls area Conduct pre-session communications with clients and non-English speakers Receive and review session briefings prior to interpreting Deliver real-time, face-to-face interpretation , accurately translating spoken statements both ways Active listening skills to interpret intent and context effectively Professional demeanor , respectful of cultural differences and special needsQUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Must meet all requirements to be qualified to apply for this position. Residency near the Sioux Falls, SD area is required. Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or GED required; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered For medical interpretation assignments, interpreters must meet applicable health screening, vaccination, and medical examination requirements established by assignment locations or partner organizations. Up-to-date on vaccinations and medical exams (for medical interpretation assignments) Must have bi-lingual skills. Demonstrate fluency in both written and spoken English and at least one target language. Preference may be given to candidates fluent in Spanish, Vietnamese, Kunama, French, Swahili, Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian, Haitian-Creole, Tigrinya or other high-demand languages. Applicants fluent in additional languages are encouraged to apply. Must successfully complete all required background screenings in accordance with agency policy and applicable law. Including criminal history screenings, criminal convictions of behavior harmful towards children, spousal abuse, distributing drugs or sex crimes. Must possess a valid driver's license, maintain proof of automobile insurance, and meet agency requirements for approved driver status, or be able to obtain approved driver status upon hire.
