Qualifications & Experience:

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in an academic or similar setting Familiarity with interpreting in classroom environments for diverse student populations Ability to collaborate with teachers, students, and staff to facilitate clear communication Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or relevant credentialing (preferred) Strong organizational skills and adaptability

Key Responsibilities:

Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa for students, teachers, and staff during lessons, meetings, and events Support classroom instruction by assisting students in fully engaging with curriculum content Work one-on-one or in small groups as needed to provide additional language support Assist educators in developing strategies to best accommodate deaf or hard-of-hearing students Maintain adherence to confidentiality, professional ethics, and all relevant regulations Document interpreting activities and progress as needed for student support planning In this role, your day-to-day contributions will create a sense of belonging and understanding for students who rely on ASL for communication.
