Qualifications & Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with experience in educational settings. Certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter, as required by state or federal guidelines. Ability to interpret classroom instruction and facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff. Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to supporting student learning. Previous travel or school-based interpreting experience a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide interpretation services for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in academic activities. Collaborate with educators and support staff to promote communication access. Accurately convey spoken information into sign language (and vice versa). Maintain confidential and ethical interpreting practices.
