Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The unit secretary performs the receptionist and secretarial duties. If functioning as monitor tech, is able to interpret rhythm strips and operate necessary equipment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education:

Monitor tech class for monitor techs only; maintain yearly telemetry competency for monitor techs only.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Knowledge of CPOE, transcribing physician orders, telephone etiquette, interpreting monitor strips.

Preferred Qualification:

High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of a Medical Assistant program, Certified Nurse Assistant, or equivalent prior experience.

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS 1.

Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan. 2. Conduct reflects HMHD's values and a commitment to HMHD's Code of Conduct. 3. Attends the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs. 4. Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the materials presented during the corporate integrity and compliance training and education program. 5. Complies with all HIPAA standards. 6. General knowledge of basic bedside nursing. 7. Provides care, based on the physical, psychosocial, education, safety and related criteria appropriate to age of the patients served in assigned area/department. 8. Answers phone politely and responds with appropriate information or forwards call as required. 9. Transcribes physician orders. 10. Interprets monitor strips. 11. Maintains continuing education if required for preferred certifications. 12. Knowledge of CPOE, transcribing physician orders, telephone etiquiette and interpreting monitor strips. 13. Maintain continuing education if required for preferred certifications 14. Assists shift manager in maintaining an efficient running unit by providing clerical assistance 15. Refers to policies and procedures when appropriate. 16. Reports any changes on telemetry monitors and calls from call light to appropriate staff 17. Inventories, orders and restocks unit to maintain adequate paper supplies 18. Communicates effectively to individuals of all ages 19. Transcribes licensed independent practitioner orders accurately and demonstrations how to use CPOE 20. Schedules and completes tasks with minimal supervision and in atimely manner. 21. Is adaptable and responsive to change (including floor assignments). 22. Knows and follows chain of command and maintains confidentiality of information.
