ASAP Anticipated duration of this contract assignment: School Year Anticipated schedule: M-F Enjoy peace of mind knowing you'll receive Day One Medical Benefits Gain valuable professional experience and explore a new geographic region Role Overview A Language Facilitator supports Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH) students in educational settings by bridging communication gaps between them and hearing peers, teachers, administrators, and other staff. The position is not a tutor or teacher, but a paraprofessional who ensures equitable access to instruction and fosters language development. Daily Range of Responsibilities of the
Special Education Teacher Communication Facilitation:
Monitor D/HH students' understanding of auditory and visual information; provide real-time support using preferred communication modes (e.g., sign language, ASL, visual aids, amplification)
Classroom Preparation:
Preview lessons and materials to ensure accurate representation; modify classroom environments (lighting, seating, captioning) to support accessibility
Instructional Support:
Reinforce comprehension, provide instructional reinforcement as needed, and gradually encourage student independence in communication
Collaboration:
Work with the D/HH teacher, special education staff, and other school personnel to meet student needs; participate in IEP meetings and professional development
Assistive Technology:
Monitor and maintain use of assistive devices; troubleshoot as needed
Tutoring & Documentation:
Provide tutoring under teacher direction; document student needs, progress, and concerns in logs
Liaison Role:
Serve as a positive liaison to promote cooperative relationships within the school environment Job Qualifications for
Language Facilitator:
