Job Description

Experience a rewarding opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter working in a dynamic school environment with a focus on supporting a 9th grade student in a behavioral class setting. This part-time, contract position runs from August 12, 2026, through May 27, 2027. Youll work predominantly on Fridays, with potential occasional subbing if the primary Language Facilitator is absent. The assignment is for onsite services in a supportive and inclusive educational setting.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter, with prior experience facilitating communication in educational settings Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and best practices for interpreting in classrooms Ability to adapt communication for students using Cochlear implants, hearing aids, and ALD devices Experience working with students with behavioral or special needs is preferred Hold appropriate certification or licensure for interpreting or language facilitation Professionalism, reliability, and collaborative work ethic
Primary Responsibilities:
Facilitate clear and effective communication for a 9th grade student during instructional time (6.5 hours per Friday) Collaborate with teachers, staff, and another language facilitator to ensure consistent support for the student Encourage the students engagement and participation through accessible language services Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards aligned with school and interpreter guidelines Provide interpretation that aligns with students current needs and classroom objectives
