Job Description

ABOUT The Notetaker/Captionist reports to the Coordinator of Hearing Loss Services and provides academic support services that promote equal access for students with disabilities. This part-time position offers up to 18 hours per week and requires flexibility to support a variety of classroom and testing environments.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Provide real-time note-taking services in classroom, lecture, and laboratory settings. Deliver transcription and copy-typing services as requested. Create and edit closed captions for audiovisual materials. Provide test-reading and test-proctoring services in accordance with approved accommodations. Maintain accurate, timely, and professional support services to students with varying accessibility needs. Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure effective delivery of accommodations.
COMPETENCIES
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to provide high-quality notetaking and captioning services for students with diverse disabilities in a postsecondary educational environment. Proficiency in using computers and standard office software applications. Flexibility to work varying schedules, including occasional evenings and weekends. Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Demonstrated ability to think independently, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative to complete assignments successfully. Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a collaborative team. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments while adhering to established schedules and procedures. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Dedication to providing courteous, respectful, and inclusive customer service.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Individual Contributor Work Environment:
Work is primarily conducted in an indoor setting. Hours may vary depending on the needs of the department.
Physical Demands:

No If travel is required, the candidate must have and maintain a current, valid Texas driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
