Working full-time, Monday through Friday (35 hours per week), you'll play a vital role in facilitating communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Assignments are 1:1, primarily with elementary-age learners, and may shift to different locations within the district as coverage is needed. Key Qualifications:
VA Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III required EIPA Score of 3.5 strongly preferred; candidates with an EIPA above 3.0 or QAS Score of 3 or better will be considered Previous experience as an educational Sign Language Interpreter, preferably with elementary-aged students Familiarity with Visaphonics is a plus, but not mandatory Strong professional ethics, adaptability, and clear communication skills
Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 sign language interpreting services to assigned students in various school locations as needed Facilitate smooth communication between students, teachers, and peers in academic and social settings Adapt interpreting methods to match student needs, including accommodating preferred communication modes Collaborate with educational staff to promote inclusion and learning Maintain strict confidentiality and accuracy in all interpreting services
