Desired Qualifications:

Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) required Experience interpreting in educational settings is a plus Holds, or is eligible to obtain, either VQAS Level III or a 3.5 EIPA score (final requirements pending) Comfortable adapting to different age groups and changing assignments Ability to travel to schools throughout Northern Virginia as needed

Key Responsibilities:

Provide accurate, impartial interpretation for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in academic, extracurricular, and social settings Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to deliver effective support Adjust interpreting techniques to fit K-12 classroom environments and age ranges Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards Promptly complete required credentialing, such as the Virginia Dept. of Social Services background check and TB test
