Job Description
Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a dynamic role as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting K-12 students for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. Here, your expertise will make a lasting impact by fostering inclusive communication in diverse educational settings. This full-time, contract opportunity allows you to work closely with students, teachers, and staff, ensuring every learner has equal access to classroom content and activities.
Desired Experience & Skills:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or equivalent) Experience providing interpreting services in K-12 educational environments Strong collaboration and communication abilities Flexibility in adapting to varying classroom subjects and student needs Sensitivity to cultural and developmental differencesResponsibilities:
Accurately interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa for students, educators, staff, and families Work one-on-one and in group classroom settings to facilitate student understanding and participation Collaborate with teachers and educational teams to support individualized education plans (IEPs) and student success Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards in educational interpreting Support students both inside and outside the classroom as needed, including events, assemblies, and extracurricular activities Remain current on best practices in sign language interpreting and ongoing professional development This position offers the opportunity to enrich the educational experience for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing while developing invaluable skills in a supportive, forward-thinking environment.
