9651457-23666 Job Description Step into a rewarding opportunity working with K-12 students as a Sign Language Interpreter and ASL teacher in an itinerant role for four school sites in the Hampton, VA area. This full-time, in-person position offers the satisfaction of supporting students with communication needs while collaborating closely with speech-language professionals, including a SLPA and CF, who will be joining you in delivering quality care and education.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience as a sign language interpreter Certification or licensure as required in Virginia for interpreting or teaching ASL Background working with school-aged children, especially in K-12 educational settings Ability to travel between multiple school sites as an itinerant team member Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Commitment to fostering accessible, inclusive learning environments

Position Responsibilities:

Provide direct interpreting services to students and staff during classroom instruction and school activities Collaborate with teachers, staff, and speech-language professionals to support students academic and social development Adapt interpreting and teaching strategies to meet individual student needs and abilities Participate in student assessments, progress monitoring, and IEP meetings as needed Maintain accurate records, confidentiality, and professional standards Attend orientation or training sessions planned for July 2025 and begin the school year in August This role offers the chance to work full-time, typically from 7:30am to 3:00pm on school days, making a difference across multiple school environments.
