9651457-23608 Job Description Bring your passion for supporting K-12 students in Virginia as a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter! This rewarding opportunity offers full-time hours, engaging work across four school sites, and the chance to collaborate with a diverse team, including a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant and Clinical Fellow. Step into a vital, in-person role, providing direct communication support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Youll join the educational team in an itinerant capacity, traveling between school sites to meet the needs of students in various classrooms. The position begins in August, with a possibility of paid orientation and training in July 2025, ensuring you feel prepared and supported from day one.
Key Qualifications:
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) required Educational Interpreter certification or equivalent experience in school-based interpreting preferred Previous experience supporting K-12 students highly valued Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to travel between multiple sites during the school day
What Youll Do:
Provide sign language interpretation for students, staff, and families in the classroom and school environment Foster inclusive learning by accurately translating spoken and signed communication Collaborate closely with teachers, SLPs, SLPAs, and other related service providers Support students academic and social development throughout the school year Maintain confidentiality and adhere to best practices in educational interpreting
