Qualifications & Credentials Valid Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III OR Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5+ with a passing written test OR Nationally recognized certification such as NIC Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience interpreting in K-12 settings, particularly with young children, is highly valued Ability to work onsite and meet school district requirements Commitment to professional conduct, confidentiality, and adaptability Role Responsibilities Provide direct ASL interpreting services for a kindergarten student in all classroom and school activities Partner with teachers and staff to foster an accessible and engaging learning environment Facilitate communication between the student, peers, and staff throughout the school day Support understanding and development of academic concepts and socialization skills Maintain professional boundaries and respect student privacy at all times Adapt interpreting methods to suit students evolving needs This position offers you the opportunity to apply your skills in a supportive educational environment while influencing a childs access to learning and community.
