Large-Scale Data Center Construction Site Schedule:
50-60+ hours per week (typically 5x10s or 5x12s, with occasional Saturdays) Position Overview We are seeking a bilingual English/Spanish EHS Translator to support a high-profile data center construction project in Sterling, Virginia. This role is critical to ensuring clear and accurate communication between field technicians, construction management, subcontractors, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) personnel. The Translator will serve as a bridge between English and Spanish-speaking teams, helping ensure that safety expectations, site procedures, training content, and project communications are fully understood by all workers. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can confidently translate in real-time within an active construction environment while helping reinforce a culture of safety and compliance across the job site. Key Responsibilities Provide real-time verbal interpretation between English and Spanish-speaking personnel during daily operations. Translate and assist during toolbox talks, pre-task planning meetings, new hire orientations, safety briefings, and incident reviews. Support EHS professionals in communicating site safety requirements, policies, and procedures to field personnel. Translate conversations between construction managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and craft workers to ensure accurate understanding of project expectations. Assist with written translation of safety documents, training materials, permits, signage, incident reports, and other project-related communications. Proofread translated documents to ensure accuracy, consistency, and proper interpretation of technical terminology. Help identify communication barriers that could impact worker safety, productivity, or compliance. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive personnel or safety-related information. Walk active construction areas to support field communications and engage directly with project teams. Partner with site leadership to promote a positive safety culture and encourage employee participation in EHS initiatives. Support special projects and administrative tasks related to safety communications as needed. Required Qualifications Fluent in English and Spanish Professional experience as a Translator or Interpreter Construction experience preferred Strong communication skills Interest in safety and EHS Comfortable working long hours (5x10s or 5x12s, occasional Saturdays)
