Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Shape the educational experience of a high school student by providing expert sign language interpreting services in an engaging school setting for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time contract opportunity is ideal for professionals skilled in supporting inclusive communication and fostering access to educational content.
Key Qualifications:
Current certification or licensure in Sign Language Interpreting (state or nationally recognized) Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other sign systems as required Experience working with high school-aged students preferred Previous involvement in educational settings or with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) is highly desirable Professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural responsiveness in all interactions Ability to maintain accurate records and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Position Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality sign language interpreting services for a high school student, facilitating equitable participation in classroom activities, extracurricular events, and meetings Interpret lectures, discussions, instructions, and relevant campus communications Adapt interpreting methods and approaches to suit student needs and educational contexts Collaborate closely with teachers, support staff, and families to create an inclusive learning atmosphere Support the student's communication access as outlined in their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Remain attentive to student comprehension and adjust techniques as needed to ensure optimal understanding Reasons to
