9675034-98042 Job Description Step into a dynamic educational environment and make an impact as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting a vibrant Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) program. This full-time contract position is set in a well-structured, supportive district near Kent, WA, serving middle school students. Youll play a key role in fostering inclusion and access to learning by interpreting in DHH classrooms, general education settings, and offering both small group and one-on-one support.
Qualifications and Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) EIPA score of 3.5 or higher strongly preferred Previous experience working in educational settings, ideally with middle school students Ability to effectively interpret in both group and individualized scenarios Collaborative spirit with a commitment to supporting diverse learners Flexibility and adaptability to shifting classroom needs
Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality interpreting services for DHH students in middle school classes Transition seamlessly between DHH and general education environments Facilitate communication for students in a variety of settings, including small groups and individual sessions Work in close partnership with DHH staff, general education teachers, and related service providers Support students' participation and engagement throughout the school day Maintain professional standards of confidentiality and ethical interpreting practices Enjoy a work schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM, and the chance to collaborate within a district that values the expertise of interpreters, offering a robust framework and strong mentoring.
