Desired Qualifications:
Certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter in Washington state, or eligibility to obtain required credentials Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience interpreting in educational settings, especially high schools, highly preferred Ability to work closely with students, teachers, and school staff in both one-on-one and group settings Strong organizational and communication skills Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and supportive learning environments
Key Responsibilities:
Provide interpretation services for a high school student in academic and extracurricular settings Facilitate communication between the student, staff, and peers, ensuring full participation in classroom activities Adapt interpreting techniques to meet the unique needs and preferences of the student Collaborate with teachers and educational teams to support the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Uphold confidentiality and maintain accurate records related to interpreting services This contract role offers an engaging experience in a supportive school community, with opportunities for professional growth throughout the 2026-2027 academic year.
