This full-time contract opportunity near Puyallup, WA, offers 37.5 hours per week dedicated to making a difference in the lives of students who use American Sign Language. Your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter or background as a Teacher of ASL can truly shine and help bridge communication within the school community.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in school or education environments Ability to facilitate clear communication between students, staff, and families Familiarity with Deaf culture and best practices for supporting Deaf or hard-of-hearing learners Certification in interpreting or relevant credentials preferred Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, collaborative attitude
Key Responsibilities:
Provide interpreting services for students and staff during classroom instruction and school events Foster a welcoming, accessible environment for Deaf/hard-of-hearing students Collaborate with educators to ensure classroom materials and activities are accessible Support student learning and encourage self-advocacy skills Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times Participate in relevant school meetings, IEPs, and professional development Enjoy the satisfaction of knowing your daily impact supports student achievement and personal growth.
