Desired Qualifications:

Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in K-12 settings Current national or state certification for interpreting (such as RID or EIPA) highly preferred Understanding of classroom procedures and the unique needs of elementary-aged students Excellent collaboration and communication abilities

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct interpretation services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing within a classroom environment Translate spoken language to ASL, and sign language to spoken English, ensuring accessibility for formal instruction and daily social interactions Work closely with educators, special education staff, and families to foster inclusive learning experiences Support the personalized learning goals of each student, adapting communication as required Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all school and district regulations regarding student privacy Assist during meetings, school assemblies, and extracurricular activities as needed
