Category Schools - Interpreter Job Type Contract To Hire Provide essential communication access to a middle school student and support their educational journey as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter. Step into a contract-to-hire opportunity near Sedro Woolley, WA, collaborating across various middle school classrooms, as well as in Community Transitions settings. You'll work closely with educators and support staff, interpreting for a single student, and offering assistance that enhances both academic growth and social emotional development.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation, with certification or relevant credentialing preferred Experience working in educational environments, especially with middle school or adolescent populations Adaptable communication skills for a variety of academic subjects and social emotional scenarios Ability to collaborate with teachers, specialists, and support teams to facilitate full inclusion Understanding of student confidentiality and sensitivity to diverse learning needs
Responsibilities:
Provide in-class and community-based ASL interpretation for one middle school student Support the student's academic comprehension and participation through accurate, developmentally appropriate interpretation Assist in social emotional learning activities, adapting approaches as needed for various classroom and community environments Coordinate with classroom teachers and special education professionals to ensure effective support Navigate flexible schedules, as hours per week may be less than full time and can vary based on student needs Take pride in making a tangible impact during the school year starting September 31, 2026, through June 11, 2027.
