Synopsis:

The film follows Shirley, a newly promoted stage manager determined to keep a struggling production under control, and Steve, a quiet, highly literal new production assistant who interprets every instruction exactly as it is said. As phrases like "run the lines" and "think outside the box" turn into increasingly literal misunderstandings, Steve initially appears to be another problem Shirley has to manage. But as opening night approaches, his precision begins exposing the production's real issue: a workplace where everyone has become accustomed to vague communication and inefficient systems. Inspired by workplace mockumentaries such as "The Office," "Parks and Recreation," and "Abbott Elementary," the film uses handheld camerawork, awkward interviews, quick zooms, reaction shots, and characters occasionally acknowledging the camera.
