If you already work for Encore, another production company, an IATSE crew, or freelance for multiple AV shops — and you want to pick up extra weekend events on better gear at better venues — keep reading. We're the call you take when: You want a Saturday wedding at Rancho Valencia instead of a corporate gig in a hotel ballroom You want to work on well-maintained gear with a small, professional crew You want flexibility to say yes or no event by event Most of our techs work for us as a 1099 / on-call supplement to a primary W2. Year-round event flow — we are not seasonal.

ABOUT BRILLIANT EVENT LIGHTING

We're a Southern California event production company specializing in luxury weddings, corporate AV, draping, rigging, staging, and LED walls. We produce events at venues like Rancho Valencia, Park Hyatt Aviara, Fairmont Grand Del Mar, Pelican Hill, top SoCal wineries, and private estates. Our clients are top wedding planners, luxury venues, and Fortune 500 brands — events you'd be proud to put on your reel. We own our gear. We pay our techs like the professionals they are.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Working AV professionals — not laborers. The best fit is someone who already does this for a living elsewhere and wants extra events. You should already be comfortable with: DMX programming, patching, and troubleshooting Hanging and focusing moving heads (Chauvet Rogue, Martin MAC, Elation, etc.) Conventional and intelligent fixtures, uplighting, pin spots, chandeliers Truss assembly, motor rigging, ground-supported / flown systems Basic LED wall setup Reading a plot, patch sheet, and show flow Load-in, focus, show call, and strike on tight timelines Console programming experience (ChamSys, MA, grandMA, Hog, ETC) is a major plus and unlocks higher pay.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Load-in / load-out at resorts, hotels, wineries, and estates across SoCal Build and strike truss structures, hang and focus fixtures Run DMX data, Edison and bates power Install draping, staging, LED walls, and intelligent lighting Program and operate during live shows (for qualified techs) Maintain a professional appearance — you'll be on-site at 5-star venues

REQUIRED

1+ year hands-on experience in event lighting, AV, theatrical, or live production Working knowledge of DMX and power distribution Comfortable at height (ladders, scissor lifts, Genie boom lifts) Able to lift 50+ lbs and work full event-day shifts Familiarity with truss, spansets, shackles, motor rigging Reliable transportation and valid driver's license Available some weekends — you pick events that fit your schedule

STRONGLY PREFERRED

Currently or recently working at Encore or another production / AV company Active freelance AV or lighting technician Console programming experience (ChamSys, MA, grandMA, Hog, ETC) ETCP rigging certification or IATSE Local 122 card Forklift / scissor lift / boom lift certification LED wall processor experience (NovaStar, Brompton) Experience with Chauvet, Martin, Elation, ETC, ADJ, Global Truss
