We are looking for and accepting bids for an experienced Set Designer / Set Builder to take the lead on a custom television/podcast studio build inside an existing home office space in Solana Beach, California. This is a fast-moving, approximately one to two-week build. We already have the overall creative direction and concept designs. We need someone who can take that vision, help translate it into a practical build, source the materials, and execute it. The set has a sophisticated dark steakhouse / speakeasy / executive-club feel and scenic flats, wood/wainscoting treatments, curtains, framed artwork, integrated practical lighting, television monitors, host areas, and accommodations for multiple cameras, microphones, lighting and cable management.

Experience / Skills

We're looking for someone who:

• Has professional TV, film, commercial, broadcast, podcast or production-set experience
• Can both design and physically build—this is a hands-on position
• Understands production lighting, camera angles, sightlines and how sets photograph
• Has experience building flats, platforms/stages, scenic walls and finish carpentry
• Can source lumber, finishes, carpeting, curtains, lighting, hardware and other materials locally
• Has their own professional tools and transportation
• Can work efficiently inside an occupied/commercial office environment
• Understands cable management and integrating production equipment into a set
• Can complete the project on an aggressive two-week schedule
• Ideally has a partner or small crew available to help expedite the build We are especially interested in people who have worked in television art departments, production design, scenic construction, broadcast studios or commercial production.

This is not a major soundstage build. The footprint is relatively compact, but we want it executed extremely well. The goal is to make a smaller home office look like a high-end television set on camera.
