Hourly - Center REP Electrics Technician City of Walnut Creek - 4.7 Walnut Creek, CA Job Details Part-time $28 - $40 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description Position Description The City of Walnut Creek is seeking to hire part-time Electrics Technicians to join the Arts and Recreation Department's Center Repertory Company. These are part-time, hourly, non-benefited positions at the Lesher Center for the Arts. Work schedules will vary depending upon program needs and will include evening, weekend, and extended hours. Work opportunities will be primarily during Center REP tech week and strike for approximately five productions per year. Under immediate supervision by the Production Manager, this position performs a variety of duties related to theatrical lighting support for Center Repertory Productions. Representative Duties Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Assist in Center REP lighting theatrical installation for productions; Hang, secure, and cable conventional and automated fixtures (moving lights, LEDs) onto trusses or electrics; Adjust light angles, beams, and focus as instructed by the lighting designer and Director of Electrics; Connect fixtures to dimmers and DMX networks; Install gels, gobos, and barn doors; Dismantle, pack, and store equipment after a production closes, and Perform related work as needed.
Qualifications Guidelines Education and Experience:
The hiring team is looking for candidates who have graduated from high school (or equivalent) and have one year of experience working in community arts. Experience is preferably in performing arts. Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed is qualifying. A highly qualified candidate will possess five or more years of experience in technical theater lighting and electrics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of practices, materials, resources, and tools associated with theatrical lighting. Knowledge of stage lighting and rigging requirements for a variety of artistic productions. Knowledge of the basic principles and philosophy of professional theater. Knowledge of occupational hazards and related safety precautions to be observed in working around stage equipment and in using power and hand tools. Ability to operate power tools, use hand tools and/or materials appropriate to the specific job assignment. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
There is significant physical work in lifting and carrying equipment and supplies. Staff in this role must be able to bend, climb, and reach. Depending on assignment, there may be some hazards associated with working in high places, and with certain tools and equipment. Supplemental Information Candidates considered for employment will undergo California DOJ and FBI fingerprinting and DMV driving history review as part of the background process.
