Theatre Technician:
Assistant Technical Director, where your passion for the performing arts and technical expertise will help bring captivating stage productions to life. This dynamic role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with talented artists and production teams, ensuring seamless execution of live performances. You will be instrumental in supporting the technical operations of theatre productions, managing equipment, and guiding production teams to deliver outstanding performances that inspire and entertain audiences. Curtain Call, Inc. is Stamford, CT's longest-running, award-winning, year-round nonprofit theatre company. Our season usually consists of six main stage, six second stage productions and an annual outdoor Shakespeare production. Applicants should have degree(s) in theatre or at least three year's experience in technical theatre construction, rigging, production and/or other scene shop activities. This is a full-time, year-round position. (Somewhat flexible schedule.) The Assistant Technical Director needs to be fluent in reading building drawings and constructing scenic elements; maintaining shop equipment; the rigging of scenic elements and upkeep of the non-motorized fly system; assist in the maintenance and inventory of stock scenic, lighting, maintaining a safe work environment for all shop employees and volunteers; assisting in venue maintenance; creating and keeping-to build/load-in schedules; the loading in, striking etc. The Assistant Technical Director works with those hired-in Scenic Painters and Lighting Designers as well as oversee and teach community volunteers to assist with construction, painting, hanging lights, etc. Knowledge of electrics/ lighting design is helpful, too. The applicant must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, climb ladders, and use standard shop power tools and have a valid driver's license. Applicants need experience with non-motorized fly systems, general stage rigging, general theatrical construction and engineering, and Vectorworks. Salary, plus health insurance, vacation and 401K plan. Position beginning mid to late summer 2022.
Range:
