SUMMARY The CFL Technician is a full-time position and offers technical support, collaborative planning with the Head CFL Technician, and quality customer service for all events in the Center for Faith and Life.

$16.64 - $19.58 ESSENTIAL DUTIES and

RESPONSIBILITIES

Offer services to Center for Faith and Life users, campus event planners, and off- campus guests including all sound, lighting, and audio-visual needs. Determine users' technical needs and explain technical options available. Work with the Head CFL Technician to coordinate space needs, availability, and planning for upcoming events. Uphold a standard of excellence in technical support for the CFL. Provide general support for Programming & Outreach. Assist as necessary with building management for the Center for Faith and Life.

SHARED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(All Technicians) Provide technical assistance and general support for all events in the CFL Main Hall and Recital Hall for conferences, campus-wide events, the Center Stage Series, Christmas at Luther, festivals, concerts, college ministry services, camps, conventions and other special projects for the academic year and summer conference season. Offer technical direction for events, including implementation of contracts and riders. Read and apply light and stage plots from touring companies. Act as contact for the technical end of productions. Assess and arbitrate production costs including the rental and billing of additional equipment and assistance. Set up truss, curtains, lighting and sound system, and other multimedia equipment as needed. Load in, set up, and load out guest sets and equipment. Responsible for all aspects of sound reinforcement and theatrical lighting including design, set up, operation, trouble shooting, repair, replacement and inventory. Record lectures, concerts, recitals, and worship services in the Center for Faith and as requested. Responsible for technical support and set up of College Ministry Sunday worship and weekday chapel services. Assist with other Programming & Outreach duties when needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist Head CFL Technician in directing and offering guidance to student technicians, student volunteers, and members of the Performing Arts Committee. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS Education Bachelor's or Associate's Degree preferred. Experience At least two years of experience working with audio systems and/or theatrical lighting, including design, set up, focusing and repair, and multimedia resources. Familiarity with a Yamaha DM7 soundboard and Dante networking is preferred. Skills Commitment to customer service. Skills in leadership, team building, and analytical problem solving. WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to work at heights on ladders, catwalks, and a personnel lift. Must be able to handle heavy lifting. Must be willing to work long and irregular hours including nights and weekends. Must be able to climb stairs, no elevator on premises. Mostly indoor work. Air conditioned in summer and warm in winter.
