This role will provide hands-on support for studio and on-location video productions, including technical directing, camera operation, lighting, audio, and live production troubleshooting. The ideal Video Production Lead will have 4-8+ years of professional video production experience and the technical versatility to step into different production roles as needed. This is an indefinite, part-time opportunity paying $45-$50/hour (depending on experience). Hours will vary based on production needs, making this Video Production Lead position well suited for an experienced freelancer or video professional looking for additional project-based work. Work will primarily take place onsite as production needs arise at the firm's Boston studio or external shoot locations. Candidates must be located in the Greater Boston area and willing to work onsite in Boston, MA on an as-needed basis, including occasional evenings or off-hours as production schedules require.
Responsibilities:
Direct and technical direct live and recorded multi-camera studio productions, including shot selection and source switching. Operate professional Blackmagic and Sony camera systems, including FX6 and A7-series cameras. Set up and manage professional lighting and audio for studio interviews, events, and on-location productions. Work directly with on-camera talent to support positioning, pacing, delivery, and overall production quality. Troubleshoot camera, audio, lighting, graphics, and signal-flow issues during live productions. Operate Blackmagic switching equipment and ProPresenter for production switching, graphics, and playback. Prepare and manage production equipment for field shoots, interviews, events, and marketing content. Capture B-roll and event photography and provide basic media organization and Adobe Premiere editing support.
Qualifications:
4-8+ years of professional video production experience with the ability to support multiple areas of a production. Demonstrated experience directing or technical directing multi-camera studio productions. Hands-on experience with Blackmagic Design switchers and studio cameras. Proficiency with Sony professional camera systems, particularly FX6 and A7-series cameras. Strong working knowledge of professional lighting and audio equipment, including lavalier, boom, and wireless microphone systems. Experience using ProPresenter for live graphics and playback. Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere for media management and light editing. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required. Strong technical troubleshooting skills and the ability to remain composed during live production environments. Flexibility to work onsite, including occasional evenings and external shoot locations.
