Full-time Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Sign Maker with a strong background in creating custom signs, including those incorporating neon and LED lighting elements. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in designing, fabricating, and installing both traditional and illuminated signs, and will be comfortable working with a variety of materials and technologies. Key Responsibilities:
Sign Design and Creation :
Design, fabricate, and assemble a variety of custom signs, including illuminated signs, neon signs, LED-lit signage, as well as non-illuminated pieces.
Lighting Integration :
Incorporate neon and LED lighting into sign designs, ensuring proper installation and functionality of the lighting components.
Material Selection :
Work with various materials (acrylic, metal, wood, vinyl) and lighting systems to achieve high-quality, durable signs.
Cutting and Shaping :
Operate sign-making tools and equipment such as CNC machines, routers, and cutting machines to create precision components for illuminated signs.
Printing and Application :
Use digital printers, plotters, vinyl cutters, and other equipment to produce high-quality graphics, text, and logos for illuminated signage.
Installation :
Install completed signs, ensuring that neon/LED lights are properly wired, mounted, and functioning as intended, both indoors and outdoors.
Client Collaboration :
Work with clients to understand their design and lighting needs, providing creative recommendations and solutions based on their vision and brand.
Quality Control :
Perform quality checks to ensure that all signage, including lighting elements, meets safety standards and client expectations.
Maintenance of Equipment :
Maintain and troubleshoot sign-making tools, including those used for neon and LED production, ensuring proper functionality and safety.
Project Management :
Keep track of project timelines, materials, and client requirements to ensure timely and on-budget delivery of custom signage.
Safety Compliance :
Follow safety protocols for working with electrical components, including neon and LED lights, as well as standard sign-making procedures.
Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience working in a sign-making company or related field, with hands-on experience in both traditional and illuminated sign production. Expertise in designing and fabricating neon signs and integrating LED lighting systems into custom signage. Proficiency in using sign-making tools and equipment, including plotters, routers, CNC machines, and cutting tools. Experience with electrical wiring and troubleshooting for neon/LED lights, ensuring proper functionality and safety. Strong understanding of materials used in illuminated signs (e.g., neon tubing, LED strips, diffusers). Proficiency with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW) to create and modify sign designs. Knowledge of color theory, typography, and branding principles to enhance visual appeal and legibility. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, long-lasting products. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and mock-ups. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at once. Strong communication skills for client interactions and team collaboration. Ability to handle physical work, including lifting and moving materials up to [X] pounds, and working in various environments (indoor/outdoor, elevated installations).
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; formal training or certification in sign-making, electrical systems, or related fields is a plus. 2 years of experience in the sign-making industry, with demonstrated experience working with neon and LED lighting systems.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds. Comfortable working at heights for sign installations (e.g., ladders, scaffolding). Prolonged standing, bending, and working in various indoor and outdoor environments.
