Job Description

Outdoor Lighting Installation Specialist Carolina Outdoor Lighting LLC Asheville, NC Job Details Full-time From $21 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Paid holidays Paid time off On-the-job training Employee discount Opportunities for advancement Flexible schedule Referral program Qualifications Equipment safety procedures Outdoor work experience Driver's License Attention to detail Construction experience Landscaping Full Job Description The Role Carolina Outdoor Lighting is looking for a dependable, hardworking Lighting Technician to join our field team. This is not a desk job. You'll work outdoors year-round — through hot summers, cold winters, mud, rain, and everything Western North Carolina throws at us. You'll use your hands, solve problems, learn a specialized trade, and at the end of the day, stand back and see exactly what you accomplished. Our technicians install, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve professional outdoor lighting systems on some incredible properties throughout our community. No landscape lighting experience required — we'll train you on our systems and standards. Experience in landscaping, construction, irrigation, electrical work, or another hands-on trade is a plus, but attitude matters more than resume. What You'll Do Once trained, you'll work independently and alongside our team to: Install professional-grade outdoor lighting systems Run and bury low-voltage wire Install fixtures, transformers, connections, and other system components Perform maintenance and service on existing lighting systems Troubleshoot problems and determine solutions Work carefully around established landscapes, hardscapes, homes, and other property features Follow COL's installation procedures and quality standards Keep trucks, tools, equipment, and job sites clean and organized Communicate clearly with teammates and the office Interact professionally and respectfully with clients We don't cut corners to finish faster. Efficiency matters, but quality comes first — and our technicians are often the people clients see most, so how you carry yourself on a property matters as much as the work itself.
What We're Looking For Requirements:
Valid driver's license, legally permitted to drive Able to perform physically demanding outdoor work in all weather Dependable and punctual Professional, clean-cut appearance when representing the company Willing to follow established safety and installation procedures Able to receive feedback and apply it You'll thrive here if you: Enjoy physical, hands-on work outdoors, rain or shine Take pride in tangible, visible results Pay attention to details others overlook Can follow procedures without constant supervision — and think for yourself when it counts Take responsibility when you make a mistake, and fix it Enjoy solving problems and troubleshooting Want to build a specialized trade skill, not just collect a paycheck This isn't the job for you if you: Make excuses when things don't go as planned Struggle with punctuality or reliability Tend to blame others instead of owning outcomes Have a hard time staying positive under pressure Expect this to be an easy job with no accountability The Reality of the Job You will get dirty. You will dig. You'll carry equipment, kneel, bend, lift, and work across uneven terrain in the heat, the cold, and everything in between. Some days will be physically demanding. Beyond the physical work, we're looking for someone with a good attitude — willing to think, contribute ideas, take responsibility, and grow both professionally and personally. Attention to detail and craftsmanship aren't optional; they're the standard. If you want work where someone tells you every move to make, this probably isn't it. If you want to learn a real trade and grow with a company, keep reading. Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly pay Paid holidays after 3 months of employment Accrued PTO and sick leave after 3 months of employment Commission opportunities for new projects you bring to the company Ongoing training and professional development Room for increased responsibility and advancement as your skills grow We don't currently offer health insurance, but it's a benefit we hope to add as the company grows. Our Team & Values Carolina Outdoor Lighting is family-owned, but "our company" means all of ours — everyone here takes accountability for their piece of the puzzle. We expect a lot from each other because every person's work affects the rest of the team, and we support each other in turn. We Are Team Focused — We help each other succeed, communicate clearly, and act for the greater good of COL. Great communication, unique designs, professional installations, and client satisfaction are all our win. We Show Integrity & Honesty — We do the right thing, especially when no one's watching. We own our mistakes, fix what goes wrong, and treat others the way we'd want to be treated. We Are Creative & Innovative — Troubleshooting and problem-solving are part of the everyday work. When something isn't working, we find another way. We Always Strive for Excellence — "Good enough" isn't our standard. We work efficiently, accurately, and safely, take pride in craftsmanship, and do what we say we'll do. Interested?
