Description:
The part-time Assistant Technical Director supports the technical operations of the Pew Fine Arts Center by providing expertise in theatrical lighting, live audio, and event production. Working collaboratively with the Technical Director, Department Chair, faculty, staff, guest artists, and student technicians, this position helps ensure the successful execution of theatre, dance, music, and campus events. Essential Responsibilities 1. Coordinate hanging of lights, running a lightboard, hanging and focusing a light plot, repair, and related lighting duties. 2. Coordinate audio and mic plots for theatrical, dance, and music productions, including soundboard operation and proper microphone utilization. 3. Coordinate student workers with the Chair of the Department and the Technical Director. 4. Work with the Technical Director as the primary Safety Coordinator on safety protocols and related industry requirements.
Requirements :
A bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience, is required. Experience in stage and production management is required, with demonstrated knowledge of theatrical lighting and live audio systems preferred. Experience in a college, university, or performing arts environment is beneficial. Candidates should have experience operating lighting and sound consoles, hanging and focusing lighting equipment, and supporting live theatrical productions. Proficiency with live sound reinforcement, monitor mixing, microphone systems, and QLab is preferred. Experience with intelligent lighting systems, video projection, audiovisual troubleshooting, and technical drafting software such as Vectorworks or AutoCAD is highly desirable. Evening and weekend work is required to support performances and events. A strong, demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the mission and vision of Grove City College is required.
