Job Description

FX Design Group:
Lighting the Way to Your Future Join FX Design Group , an award-winning design firm with over 35 years of expertise in broadcast set and lighting design, visionary branded environments and exhibits, and creative store displays and experience centers. We are on the lookout for a talented Lighting Designer to join our exciting team! Our clients span the broadcast, tradeshow exhibit, and retail interiors industry. We work diligently to provide full turnkey solutions, from concept and design to sales, fabrication, installation, and follow-up support. Our team is comprised of talented designers, fabricators, and leaders.
The Ideal Candidate:
Has lighting design experience in one or more of the following areas: broadcast, theater, theme park, architectural, live events, or branded environments. A background in broadcast studio lighting is a plus. Be a self-starter with a collaborative approach to working with a team of industry professionals. Be able to accept coaching from your leads and mentors and apply it to improve skillsets. Has previous project management experience. Can work in a fast-paced environment. Well-organized and willing to go above and beyond for clients and the team.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the FX team and clients to provide lighting solutions and guidance. Work interchangeably with scenic to develop lighting plans Interface with clients on budgeting, lighting design, scenic design, shipping, installation, and post-project follow-up. Sell lighting and scenic packages and meet sales targets. Organize and lead client conference calls Prepare and submit lighting and scenic proposals. Coordinate with the technical director and drafting/detailing team to check all technical drawings and obtain client approvals. Work with scenic design team on projects. Track and report on all projects and take necessary actions to keep all projects on budget. Develop detailed lighting plots based on scenic designs. Research new lighting technology and pricing. Project manage both lighting and scenic projects from start to finish. Be the liaison between Sr. LD/PM, TD, Scenic Designers, Clients, and Management Teams. Manage clients and work within their budgets and timelines. Be able to self-manage. Travel regularly when required for projects. Work with various vendors to procure lighting equipment. Assist clients with RMA or product inquiries.
Requirements:
One of the following: B.F.A. or B.A. in Production, Scenic/Lighting Design, or technical theater or a minimum of three years of relevant experience. Advanced knowledge of project management processes. Advanced experience and training in lighting design. Experience with Microsoft Office 365, AutoCAD, or Vectorworks. Ability to work in a demanding environment and take direction well from the FX team and clients. Willingness to travel regularly, and work flexible schedules, including weekends, and holidays. Previous project management experience. Ability to self-manage.
Preferred:
BA., B.F.A., M.A., or M.F.A. in a related field. PMP Certification Four or more years of experience with live events, broadcast, theater, or a related industry or educational field. Lighting design of television or other studios. Knowledge of broadcast cameras and control equipment. Customer service experience. CRM management or knowledge of related software.

Schedule:
Minimum 40-hours per week Monday to Friday (installations will require travel in the U.S. and abroad and may include some weekend and holiday work)
