POSITION OVERVIEW
Seeking a poised, driven, detail-oriented individual who has a passion for architectural lighting to provide support to the firm's design team and clientele.
ABOUT THE FIRM
HOILAND STUDIOS Inc. is a full-service lighting design firm based in Chicago, IL specializing in high-end residential, hospitality, retail, and art lighting projects. We offer highly customized lighting solutions for discerning clients nationwide who value good lighting. We are currently working on projects that range from high-end residential new construction, gut remodels, single family homes, condos, art lighting additions, and boutique commercial salons. We work with high-profile clientele in the privacy of their homes which requires the utmost trustworthiness and discretion.
THE ROLE
  • Assist the Principal by managing a variety of design projects through all stages of design.
  • Attend design meetings and construction site meetings with the Principal and on your own and take detailed notes.
  • Draw lighting plans in CAD and make updates as necessary based on design changes.
  • Research lighting fixture options based on the design direction.
  • Run photometric calculations in AGi32.
  • Mark up fixture cut sheets in Bluebeam Revu.
  • Create and update lighting fixture schedules in Excel.
  • Create and update lighting load schedules in Excel.
  • Design lighting scenes for the lighting control system and assign light levels to each scene in Excel.
  • Request and review fixture quotes.
  • Prepare lighting presentations.
  • Coordinate details between trades.
  • Assist with social media posts and content creation.
  • Update the website and mailing list as needed.
  • Coordinate rep visits.
  • Organize product samples.
  • Perform additional administrative tasks as needed.
TOOLS YOU WILL USE
AutoCAD, AGI, Bluebeam Revu, Excel, Word, Zoom, Wix, Mailchimp, GSuite, Dropbox
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in lighting design, interior design, architecture, architectural engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience in lighting design or a related field.
  • Strong 2D AutoCAD proficiency required.
  • Proficiency in AGi32 is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to proactively solve problems and take initiative.
  • Articulate communication skills required.
  • Familiar with architecture and design principles and the firm's aesthetic.
  • Ability to conceptualize spaces three-dimensionally.
  • Valid driver's license and accessibility to a car required.
