POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA seeks full-time staff Lighting Supervisor. Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Lighting Supervisor is responsible for the safe and successful planning, operation, and maintenance of lighting and video needs for all company productions and in-house events. They supervise the electrics staff and optimize available resources for all Signature lighting and video needs, in coordination with the other production departments. Signature, a LORT Theatre, produces 6 to 8 full-scale company productions, a cabaret series, and several additional one-off events annually.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Production support Collaborate with designers and production staff to support lighting and video design needs for all productions. Cost-out material, labor, and time needed to execute all lighting and video designs, evaluate design feasibility, and ensure safe implementation. Coordinate with other departments on any shared production elements, such as practicals in scenery, the electrification of props, and any special effects. Configure and maintain all electrics equipment and lighting and video networks. Design and implement all electrics rigging systems. Ensure proper functionality and safety of all electrical elements. Maintain the lighting and video equipment inventories. Supervise the ongoing maintenance of all lighting and video designs during run, including ongoing artistic and technical integrity, and upkeep of lighting paperwork. Electrics personnel management Hire, manage, and dismiss full-time and over hire electrics staff. Schedule over hire crew and assist HR team with onboarding of over hire employees. Submit weekly payrolls for all hourly electrics employees. Manage electrics crew in the planning, hang, focus, maintenance, and load-out of the light and video plots. Departmental planning Coordinate scheduling needs with Production Manager and other production departments. Work with Production Manager to generate electrics budgets, track departmental spending, and generate periodic re-projections of annual budget. Develop and update long-range plans for improvement and expansion of the lighting and video inventories, theatre equipment, and systems. Other duties as assigned
