Zampell Plastic Surgery (Private Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Practice) About the Practice We are a specialized plastic and reconstructive surgery practice in Beverly Hills seeking a skilled, detail-oriented, and professional Medical Photographer to join our team on a part-time basis. Our practice has a particular focus on breast reconstruction for patients undergoing treatment for breast cancer , as well as complex reconstructive and plastic surgery. High-quality clinical photography is an essential part of our practice, supporting patient care, surgical planning, postoperative evaluation, medical documentation, and education. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of clinical photography, lighting, composition, consistency, and patient privacy , with an appreciation for the importance of creating standardized images that accurately document surgical outcomes. Position Overview The Medical Photographer will be responsible for obtaining standardized, high-quality clinical photographs of patients before and after surgery. The position will work closely with two plastic surgeons and the clinical team , photographing patients at key stages of their reconstructive journey. In addition to patient photography, the Medical Photographer will be responsible for organizing, maintaining, and quality-controlling the practice's clinical photography library , ensuring that photographs remain accurate, accessible, secure, and consistently organized over time. This is an excellent opportunity for a photographer interested in developing specialized experience in plastic surgery and breast reconstruction within a professional, patient-centered private practice. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Photography Photograph patients during preoperative consultations and postoperative follow-up visits Obtain standardized clinical photographs according to established practice protocols Photograph breast reconstruction patients at appropriate stages of treatment and recovery Capture consistent views for comparison over time Maintain consistent positioning, framing, distance, lighting, and background Photograph both surgical sites and relevant donor sites when appropriate Assist surgeons in documenting complex reconstructive cases Photograph patients before and after revisions and staged procedures Ensure images are properly focused, exposed, and composed Review images for quality and completeness before the patient leaves Breast Reconstruction Photography Particular attention will be given to patients undergoing: DIEP and other autologous breast reconstruction Implant-based reconstruction Tissue expander reconstruction Breast reconstruction following mastectomy Breast reconstruction revisions Nipple and areola reconstruction Donor-site procedures Symmetry procedures and revisions The photographer will help establish a consistent longitudinal photographic record of each patient's reconstructive journey. Photo Organization & Maintenance Upload and organize photographs according to established practice protocols Ensure accurate patient identification and appropriate image labeling Maintain consistent file naming and folder organization Maintain organized longitudinal photographic records for patients undergoing staged reconstruction Ensure photographs from different visits can be readily located and compared Perform routine quality-control review of the clinical photography library Identify missing, duplicate, incorrectly labeled, or poor-quality images Correct organizational or labeling issues promptly Maintain secure digital storage and appropriate backup procedures Monitor storage capacity and communicate technical or storage concerns Archive photographs appropriately according to practice protocols Maintain the overall organization and integrity of the practice's photographic database Assist with improving photography workflows and organizational systems as needed Workflow & Equipment Coordinate photography efficiently with the clinical schedule Work closely with physicians and clinical staff to ensure required views are obtained Maintain and prepare photography equipment Ensure camera, lenses, lighting, and accessories are functioning properly Maintain consistent photographic settings and lighting Identify equipment or workflow issues and communicate them promptly Assist with maintaining an efficient process for transferring photographs into the practice's designated storage system Patient Interaction Many of our patients are undergoing or recovering from breast cancer treatment. The photographer must be able to create a comfortable, respectful, and professional environment during clinical photography.
