This position requires someone who understands that photographing fine art is different from standard commercial photography. Accuracy of color, texture, lighting, scale, and detail is critical. Primary Responsibilities Professionally photograph original paintings, sculptures, mixed-media works, and other fine artwork. Produce high-resolution, archival-quality digital images suitable for galleries, collectors, publications, print production, websites, and national art databases. Set up and operate professional studio lighting specifically for photographing artwork. Maintain accurate and consistent color reproduction, exposure, white balance and sharpness. Perform professional image processing and color correction using Adobe Creative Cloud Suite . Prepare multiple image versions and resolutions for archival, print, web, marketing, and database use. Catalog artwork and maintain organized digital records, filenames, metadata, dimensions, titles, inventory numbers, and related information. Assist with creating complete digital art packages for galleries , including high-resolution images, detail images, artwork information, dimensions, artist information, and other supporting materials. Prepare images and information for submission to national databases, galleries, exhibitions, publications, collectors, and other industry partners. Maintain organized master image archives and backup files. Work closely with gallery management to establish consistent photography and cataloging standards. Required Experience & Skills Professional experience photographing fine art or museum/gallery-quality objects . Strong experience with high-resolution photography . Advanced working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud . Professional experience working within a Mac / Apple environment , Epson 64" Art Printer and Analog / Digital Photography Equipment . Strong understanding of professional lighting systems and techniques for photographing paintings and other reflective or textured artwork. Experience with color management, calibrated monitors, RAW image processing, and high-resolution image workflows. Experience with professional DSLR, mirrorless, medium-format, or 8 × 10 large-format camera systems . Ability to produce images suitable for high-quality reproduction and large-format printing. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working for an art gallery, museum, auction house, artist studio, fine-art publisher, or art documentation company . Experience building gallery presentation packages, artist portfolios, exhibition packages, or artwork submission packages . Experience cataloging large collections of artwork. Familiarity with artwork inventory databases, digital asset management systems, or collection-management software. Knowledge of ICC color profiles, print-production standards, and professional fine-art reproduction. Experience photographing dimensional, heavily textured, metallic, reflective, or mixed-media artwork is highly desirable. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate combines professional photography skills with an understanding of the fine-art industry. We are looking for someone capable of developing a consistent photographic standard across a substantial collection of artwork and producing files that accurately represent the original work for galleries, collectors, databases, marketing, and reproduction. Candidates should be prepared to provide a portfolio demonstrating previous fine-art, museum, gallery, or high-resolution reproduction photography .
