Job Description

The Wichita Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, is looking for motivated, currently enrolled college students to join our team as interns for the 2025-26 hockey season! This is your chance to gain hands-on experience in the world of professional sports, grow your skills, and work behind the scenes on game nights and special events. This is an unpaid internship, with the opportunity to receive college credit or just gain experience! Some roles may require additional office hours. AVAILABLE POSITIONS INCLUDE
Game Operations
  • Interns assigned to this role will rotate between Fan Relations, downstairs Game Ops, Promotions, and Chuck-A-Puck.
Assist in the management of the Fan Relations Booth at the arena on game nights. Duties include answering fan inquiries and assisting fans with wayfinding. Game operations will assist in on ice activations including anthems, intermissions, etc. Promotions will manage delivering prizes to winners of promotions, assist in preparations and tear down, coordination with promo and game ops team and assisting with intermission contests and performances. The Chuck-A-Puck team will sell CAPs on the concourse during pre-game and through the beginning of second intermission, helping to clear the ice following the game. Will work with the Game Ops and Fan Engagement team. Videographer
  • Assists in capturing video and editing to use for social media and other content. Will work with the marketing team. Own equipment required. Photography
  • Assists with capturing, labeling, organizing, and managing content. Prior knowledge of Adobe programs is a bonus. Will work with the marketing team. Own equipment required. Social Media/Marketing
  • Gather and plan content for social content, including sponsor and in-arena content. Help grow the digital presence of the team through content. Will work with the Social Media Manager. Will require use of own iPhone. Will require additional office hours. Merchandise
  • Help operate the point of sale (Shopify/Lightspeed), accurately handle cash drawers, stock merchandise items, and answer customers inquiries.
