Job Description

DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY
— B&W period monochrome with texture short (non-union) Single-scene proof-of-concept for an original feature script. 1952 Toledo, shot black-and-white.
DATES:
March. 7-8, 2027. One rehearsal/tech day, two-day shoot.
LOCATION
Hillsdale, Michigan. Practical downtown storefront interior dressed as a period jewelry store.
RATE:
$700/day. Lodging provided for out-of-area. Mileage covered. Camera and lighting package quoted separately.
THE SCENE.
One location, four actors plus extras. Opens on a frame from inside the store, looking out through the front window to the street. The heart of the scene is a wise guy and his girlfriend buying an expensive necklace. Mirrors, display-case glass, and reflections play a prominent role throughout. There's a silent exchange between two women, carried in eye contact, played primarily in a mirror.
REFERENCE
Ripley (2024). Composed, patient, period-authentic monochrome. Deliberate, intentional, artistic.
CREW:
The DP's own 1st AC, gaffer, and key grip are welcome and budgeted. Collaborative set — camera and lighting decisions are made together.
