Job Description
EMPLOYMENT TERMS
Full-time, 12-month positionPRIMARY DUTY
The Sales Underwriting Associate will work forKXCV-KRNW
public radio; a 100,000 watt station in Maryville and a 38,000 watt station in Chillicothe both broadcasting from the campus of Northwest Missouri State University. This position will be an experienced underwriting salesperson to represent the entireKXCV-KRNW 32
county four state coverage area with spot sales, regular contract business, program underwriting, sports underwriting, on-air sponsorships, event sponsorships, and digital and web sponsorships.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Develop proposals and present underwriting, production support, special event and web opportunities to businesses, professionals, and advertising agencies 2. Prospect, sign, renew, and service new and current development partners forKXCV-KRNW 3.
Be responsible for selling spot underwriting, regular contract business, full program underwriting, sports underwriting, on-air underwriting sponsorships, event underwriting sponsorships, corporate sales, donor cultivation, and digital and web sales 4. Collect past due accounts 5. Develop strategic sales relationships with existing and prospective clients including helping them meet content and production requirements 6. Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue goals 7. Create multi-platform underwriting opportunities 8. Proactively keep accounts current, provide reporting, and attend meetings as necessary 9. Develop a territory plan which includes a list of potential underwriting clients, a strategy, and a timetable for contacting and serving them 10. Keep informed and current on programming, production, events, and other opportunities for underwriting in our communities 11. Develop and foster partnership opportunities on and off campus 12. Perform other duties as assignedREQUIREMENTS
Education:
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or communications or proven sales history (An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.)Certification/License:
Driver's licenseExperience:
Two years of media development or sales experience working cooperatively with production, traffic, and programming departments; public broadcasting or commercial broadcast sales experience and passion for public media; experience in utilization of media research tools and creation of presentation materialsSkills:
Passion for public media; excellent and verbal communication skills; ability to travel throughout the listening area; ability to interact, train, and involve Northwest students interested in an underwriting or advertising sales career; proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet ExplorerWORKING CONDITIONS
This position will work in a typical office environment with the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in a professional environment; Some evening and weekend hours in addition to traditional workdays; Travel throughout the station's coverage areaEQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED
