Rego Park, NY Job Details Part-time | Seasonal | Contract $30 - $50 an hour 13 hours ago Qualifications Experience working with 12th graders Packing Moving Experience working with children Attention to detail Full Job Description The School Photo Company / AMC Photo Inc. is looking for a reliable, energetic, and professional School Photographer to join our team for school picture days throughout New York City and surrounding areas. We photograph students from Pre-K through 12th grade, graduating classes, faculty, staff, class groups, and special school events. This is a fast-paced photography position. We are looking for someone who can produce consistent, properly exposed, well-composed portraits while working efficiently with a large number of students. Responsibilities As a School Photographer, you will be expected to: Arrive at the school on time, usually early in the morning. Professionally represent The School Photo Company while working with school administrators, teachers, parents, and students. Unload, set up, test, and break down photography equipment. Set up professional backgrounds, lighting, camera equipment, and posing areas. Test lighting, exposure, white balance, focus, framing, and camera settings before photography begins. Photograph individual students using multiple poses. Photograph full-body, three-quarter, and head-and-shoulder portraits. Photograph classroom/group pictures when required. Photograph faculty and staff. Photograph graduation/cap-and-gown portraits when scheduled. Work comfortably with children from Pre-K through high school. Give students simple posing instructions and help them feel comfortable in front of the camera. Pay attention to details such as posture, hands, clothing, hair, glasses, and facial expression. Maintain consistent camera position, lighting, framing, and exposure throughout the day. Work efficiently in a high-volume environment without making students feel rushed. Work closely with school staff to keep classes moving according to schedule. Make sure the correct student is associated with the correct photograph/record. Follow student rosters, class lists, index cards, QR codes, or other identification systems provided for the shoot. Check images throughout the day for focus, exposure, lighting, posing, and technical problems. Protect cameras, memory cards, photographs, and student information. Keep the photography area clean, organized, and safe. Pack equipment carefully at the end of the shoot. Follow company procedures for transferring and delivering image files after Picture Day. What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate should have: Experience with DSLR or mirrorless cameras. Good understanding of shutter speed, aperture, ISO, autofocus, and white balance. Experience using studio strobes or professional flash photography. Understanding of basic portrait lighting. Strong portrait composition and posing skills. Ability to produce sharp and consistently exposed photographs. Ability to work quickly while maintaining quality. Excellent communication and people skills. Patience and a positive attitude when working with children. Professional appearance and behavior. Strong attention to detail. Ability to follow instructions and company procedures. Ability to work independently as well as part of a photography team. Ability to lift and move photography equipment. Reliable transportation is strongly preferred because Picture Days take place at different school locations. School photography experience is preferred, but photographers with strong experience in portraits, events, weddings, sports, studio photography, or high-volume photography are encouraged to apply. Schedule Most school photography takes place Monday through Friday during school hours. Typical assignments require an early-morning arrival , with photography continuing through part or all of the school day. This position may be seasonal, part-time, per-diem, or may lead to more regular assignments depending on experience, reliability, and performance.
Pay:
$30.00 - $50.00 per hour Expected hours: 5.0 - 25.0 per week
