Non-Exempt Position Summary The Ophthalmic Photographer performs multiple ophthalmic imaging techniques to assist physicians in the examination and treatment of diseases of the eye. The Ophthalmic Photographer successfully performs procedures such as digital fluorescein (including performing injections and related patient care), color fundus photography, optical tomography, retinal thickness analysis, etc. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Manage the photographic needs within the clinic setting to include fundus, external, fluorescein angiography, OCT, etc. Assist physicians with patients; work up patients to include intraocular pressures, history of present illness, medical histories, and check vision. Perform anterior chamber exams. Identify appropriate dilating solutions. Coordinate supplies and inventory within the photography department to include all items used within the photographic setting at all locations, inclusive of dyes and medical supplies for angiographic procedures. Complete detailed exams; perform testing required based on physician direction. Help sterilize instruments and ensure biohazards are properly disposed of. Promote a positive working environment, providing encouragement and guidance to other staff members. Other duties as assigned. Work Relationship and Scope The Ophthalmic Photographer works closely with physicians, patients, and other clinic floor staff. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities High School Degree required; further education encouraged. Sound knowledge of digital fluorescein cameras, fundus cameras, OCT, and digital cameras to satisfactorily complete the duties of the role; ability to perform minor repairs of the equipment is required. Demonstrates knowledge of proper, safe, and efficient usage of office equipment, computers, and software, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are required. In-depth knowledge of Excel is required. Exceptional interpersonal skills are required. Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to work well under pressure. Working Conditions Work is generally performed at the main clinic, located at 800 N. First Street, Wausau, WI but will require travel to the satellite locations on a regular basis. Hours of work will depend on the needs of the Clinic. This position requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting (up to 30 pounds), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs is required.
